About Insomnia

Insomnia is a free, open-source menu bar app that keeps your MacBook awake with the lid closed, so Claude Code, Codex and other coding agents keep working. Click the eye, type how many hours, and it stays awake until the countdown ends.

When you close the lid, it turns off the display and keyboard light, mutes audio, and pauses Slack, WhatsApp and Discord until you open it again. It turns on Low Power Mode at 40% battery and ends the session at 10% or if the Mac gets too hot. Every change is written to a journal first, so it can be undone even after a crash.

Optional extras: it joins your iPhone's hotspot if the Wi-Fi drops, and types "continue" into a marked agent pane after 90 seconds offline.

macOS 26 or later, Apple silicon. MIT license.
